Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into a search tool is sent to the provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query under its own terms and returns any result through its own service. Gaston County Court Docket does not maintain a separate query database.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained to respond and maintain the correspondence. It is not sold. Disclosure can occur when a valid legal obligation requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, normal web-service logs may record technical details about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that a browser stores. They can help measure aggregated traffic and identify technical problems. Browser settings can limit or block cookies, though some functions may behave differently when they are blocked.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, securing, and improving the service
- Passing a search request to the provider selected by the visitor
- Understanding aggregated page use and performance
- Diagnosing service or delivery problems
- Serving advertising that a provider may tailor through its own systems
No Court-Record Data on File
Gaston County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case records. It identifies public routes to the Gaston County Clerk of Superior Court, trial courts, and North Carolina eCourts Portal. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information entered there is governed by the provider's privacy policy and its data-retention and sharing rules. Review that policy before submitting a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links can lead to clerk pages, North Carolina court portals, state case-search services, and third-party tools. Once a visitor leaves this resource, the destination's policy controls. Review it before submitting personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to measure activity across websites. That processing occurs under their systems and policies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be processed by:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for information within our control. Internet transmission and storage cannot be guaranteed completely secure.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Contact us if you believe that such information was submitted so the request can be reviewed.
Your Data Rights
North Carolina's court-record access framework identifies the clerk as custodian of court records and permits public inspection where access is not prohibited. See N.C. Gen. Stat. ยง 7A-109. It does not change the privacy practices for this private resource. You may still:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
